ACTEW Water has been awarded at the Chief Minister’s Gold Awards in Canberra.

The Canberra Gold Awards is an ACT Government initiative to celebrate dedication to the Canberra community by honouring individuals and groups who have resided or operated in the ACT for fifty years or more.

The water company received a Gold award for its long-term commitment to the ACT with 100 years providing water and sewerage services to the Canberra region.

The award is open to any groups, businesses, clubs, societies, organisations, associations and sports teams.

Managing Director of ACTEW Water, John Knox, said that the Canberra Gold Awards were an excellent way to remind the community of our long-term commitment to our service and products, and to the community.

“ACTEW Water has been providing Canberra with top quality water for 100 years and this award provides excellent recognition for the contribution that our organisation has made to the lives of Canberrans, whether that’s an environmental, economic or recreational contribution,” he said.

“It is also an appropriate way to be able to recognise the staff within the organisation who have shown a long-term commitment to Canberra.”

The award comes just as ACTEW Water is poised to rebrand in the coming months, and in its 100th year.

The new name and brand of Icon Water represents a business that has been trusted for around 100 years to deliver quality to our customers, and to the community.

“Rebranding will be an excellent opportunity to refocus the organisation for the future, ensuring we are a relevant, focused and trusted water and sewerage utility for the region,” Mr Knox said.

A number of ACTEW Water staff members were also honoured at the awards for their 50 years of commitment to the ACT.
