ActewAGL’s online home electrification service, Electrify with ActewAGL, took out the top spot in the Innovation (established) category at the Australian Financial Review’s Energy Awards on 21 October 2025.

Launched in August 2024, ActewAGL said the digital platform is Australia’s first comprehensive “one-stop-shop” for home electrification. It’s an integrated solution that simplifies and personalises the shift to energy efficient, all-electric living. ActewAGL partnered with technology company BOOM! Power to bring the service to life.

ActewAGL Group Manager for Energy Transition, Todd Eagles, said, “Our customers told us they wanted a clear starting point for their electrification journey. Electrify with ActewAGL makes it easy for them to explore options that suit their needs, understand the benefits and take action,”

Since its launch, Electrify with ActewAGL has facilitated more than 1300 electric appliance installations and 10,000 home electrification assessments across the ACT and south-east New South Wales. In addition to helping customers better navigate the complex task of electrifying their home, Electrify with ActewAGL matches customers with trusted installers, removing a key barrier to taking action.

General Manager of ActewAGL Retail, Rachael Turner, noted that Electrify with ActewAGL is playing a key role in creating a positive experience for customers, and while electrification provides environmental benefits, customers are also focussed on how to reduce their electricity bills.

“Customers are looking for convenience and simplicity, and they’re approaching electrification pragmatically,” she stated.

Stewart from Oxley was one such customer, and he shared his experience with the service.

“It helped me to understand the benefits and costs in more detail and essentially made the decisions for me – it was the catalyst that prompted the upgrade,” he said

“I was initially going to get my gas heating and hot water upgraded, which was part of the recommendation, but ended up starting with a battery instead.”

Ms Turner also noted that government subsidies for solar and batteries, alongside other non-government subsidies, are playing a crucial role in addressing what is often the biggest barrier to electrification—the upfront cost.

“We provide our ACT customers with discounts of between $1500 and $5000 per appliance upgrade, so they can consider what best suits their needs, be it an efficient reverse-cycle air conditioner, electric water heater or insulation upgrade, to name just a few of the options we have available.”

Ms Turner said it was very pleasing to be recognised through the national awards amongst strong competition.

“We know the transition to full electrification is complex and I’m proud of our team for creating an innovative service which supports our customers at every stage of their electrification Journey,” she said.
