AGL has launched new broadband products, marking its expansion into a multi-product retailer operating across energy, data and telecommunications.
AGL Chief Customer Officer, Christine Corbett, said AGL was offering three unlimited data plans costing between $75 and $95 per month prior to a $15 discount to customers who bundled them with energy plans.
“For more than 180 years AGL has been innovating to make things better for our customers,” Ms Corbett said.
“Recognising the growing convergence of energy and data, it’s becoming more important to meet the needs of our connected customers by providing the essential services of the future.
“This includes not only the electricity and gas we have been supplying to customers but also broadband now and more to come in future.
“Last year, we acquired Southern Phone, one of Australia’s largest regional telecommunications companies with more than 168,000 active NBN and ADSL broadband internet and mobile phone services in regional Australia.
“However, the launch of broadband products represents our first move into data and telecommunications under the AGL brand and also supports our strategic priority of growth.
“These new products give our customers the ease and convenience of having one provider for their essential services.”
Ms Corbett said AGL’s new Home Basic, Home Standard and Home Fast NBN plans offered the convenience and flexibility of no lock-in contracts or AGL set-up fees, and the ability to choose any energy or internet plans in addition to competitive prices.
“The plans cater for customers’ differing household needs, including internet browsing, streaming, playing games and working from home,” Ms Corbett said.
“The launch of these NBN plans is an important step to help us achieve our growth targets, which includes increasing total services to 4.5 million by FY24 compared with 4.2 million now, and average services per customer to 1.6, from 1.4 now.”
