Senator Anne Ruston, Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, will open the 2016 Irrigation Australia International Conference.
The Government, having recently added a further $12.5million into irrigation infrastructure upgrades for the Murray-Darling Basin as well as $120million for projects in Tasmania, has plans for further investment across the nation including North West WA, Darwin, NSW and Victoria.
The Government has said water is the most valuable resource in the 21st century and its importance Australian economic growth and prosperity could not be clearer.
On the back of this support, Ms Ruston will open the conference.
Federal Government Support for Conference and Exhibition
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources will also be hosting workshops during the exhibition on ‘Commonwealth on Farm Irrigation Efficiency and Infrastructure Programs’.
These workshops are free to attend and all visitors are welcome. The workshops also complement keynote addresses from Senator Ruston and Assistant Secretary, Water Resources, Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, Richard McLoughlin, as part of the comprehensive conference program.
Other key speakers who will share growth plans include; Graham Hawke, Deputy Director, Environment and Research Division, Bureau of Meteorology and Phillip Glyde, Chief Executive, Murray-Darling Basin Authority.
In addition, Irrigation Australia has announced support from the Victorian State Government, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning who will proudly host the plenary session on day one of the conference.
AgriTech Australia, running alongside the Irrigation Australia International Conference and Exhibition will also hold free seminars by NSW Department of Primary Industries, IrriSAT – Weather Based Scheduling and Benchmarking Technology.
