Aurora Energy has announced it will partner with electricity metering service provider Metering Dynamics as part of new national Power of Choice reforms due to come into effect from 1 December 2017.
As part of these changes all electricity retailers operating in the National Electricity Market are required to appoint a ‘Metering Coordinator’.
As Metering Coordinator, Metering Dynamics will be responsible for providing metering services to Aurora Energy’s residential and small business customers requiring new or replacement meters.
Aurora Energy chief executive officer, Rebecca Kardos, said Metering Dynamics was chosen as preferred partner because of the strong alignment in strategic goals, principles and culture between the two companies.
“Metering Dynamics’ drive to provide customers with the best possible experience is something that really resonated with us,” Mrs Kardos said.
“As one of Australia’s largest and most successful metering businesses, they have a proven record in delivering cost-effective, innovative multi-utility metering solutions.
“The fact they have been operating in Tasmania for almost 10 years was also a key consideration.”
Metering Dynamics General Manager, Brad Pye, said the metering service provider was delighted to be able to work alongside Aurora Energy to play a bigger part in the Tasmanian community.
“One of the important initiatives of our plan is to invest in the local community and utilise as many Tasmanian services as possible,” Mr Pye said.
“We are looking forward to sharing our extensive national experience, including our knowledge of how other states and territories are handling complex industry-wide challenges to ensure a positive transition to Power of Choice for Tasmanians.”
The metering changes target new or replacement meters with the management of existing meters to continue to be undertaken by TasNetworks.
