Avoca residents and business owners are invited to AusNet Services’ community forum on Thursday 13 August (VIC). Participants will hear a progress update and will be invited to ask questions on the project underway to bring natural gas to Avoca.

AusNet Services’ Program Manager, Geoff Thorn, said that excitement is building throughout the town as crews continue construction of the underground gas network.

“Since construction commenced in May, we’re keen to host another event to keep the community informed and give them a chance to ask questions on how they can get connected to natural gas,” Mr Thorn said.

“There was a significant attendance at the last event and we’re expecting similar interest now that underground pipes are being installed throughout the town,” he said.

AusNet Services has detailed information on its website – www.ausnetservices.com.au – for the project, including a map of where the pipelines will run.

In the last five years, SP AusNet has carried out works costing more than $580m in operating, maintaining and extending our natural gas network in western Victoria to more than 92,000 homes and businesses.

Under the previous State Government’s natural gas extension program, SP AusNet connected gas to 12 Victorian towns: Barwon Heads, Camperdown, Creswick, Gisborne, Lancefield, Macedon, Maiden Gully, New Gisborne, Port Fairy, Riddells Creek, Romsey and Woodend.

The event will begin at 6pm Thursday 13 August at the Avoca Senior Citizens Club, 186 High Street, Avoca.
