Trenchless Technology – TRACTO-TECHNIK
Welcome to the TRACTO-TECHNIK Content Hub brought to you by Utility Magazine.
TRACTO-TECHNIK develop, produce and market machines and accessories for the underground installation and renewal of pipelines.
These trenchless NODIG technologies are used for the construction of supply networks for water, gas and power, telecommunications, district heating, fibre optic cable networking and in pipeline construction as well as in sewage disposal.
Transgrid adopts new transmission line recycling technology
Tayla Oates News, Projects, Sustainability, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK 0Transgrid has adopted a new, Australian-first technology to cut emissions by up to 90 per cent and deliver millions in savings by streamlining the recycling of old transmission lines. Transgrid has partnered with German manufacturing firm ZECK, to deploy their ZECK Al/Steel Separator (ZAS) to recycle conductors in Western Sydney. Executive General Manager for Delivery, Craig Stallan, said, “As a […]
Accelerating the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure with trenchless technology
Katie Livingston Digital Utilities, Sponsored Editorial, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK 0The opportunity to power passenger vehicles with renewable energy is an exciting prospect, given transport is Australia’s largest single source of emissions, but the technology is facing a significant speed bump when it comes to the availability of charging infrastructure. While Australia’s vast size poses challenges for the rollout of charging infrastructure, trenchless technology can help fast-track this process by […]
The future of drilling – GRUNDODRILL FIRST EDITION
Charlotte Pordage Sponsored Editorial, Trenchless technology, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK 0Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a complex process, which places equally diverse demands on machine technology. Intensive analysis of its customers’ requirements caused TRACTO to question every detail and rethink every component when it came to developing a new series of advanced trenchless technology. The result is the next-generation GRUNDODRILL, an intuitive operating concept that allows for utmost flexibility and […]
The smart city is trenchless
Journalist Sponsored Editorial, Trenchless technology, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK 0With more than half of the world’s population living in cities today, the 21st century is the century of urbanisation. In Europe alone, even more than 70 per cent of its residents live in urban areas. Considering these figures, it is quite obvious that maintenance and development of the complex urban underground supply network is quite challenging in respect of […]
More power supply efficiency thanks to intelligent NODIG solutions
Journalist Electricity, Sponsored Editorial, Trenchless technology, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK 0The requirements for a nationwide and simultaneously flexible power network are higher than ever before, from an economic and ecological point of view. The challenges in expanding and maintaining a complex infrastructure are continuously growing, especially in times of increasing networking and energy transition, with regard to service line capacities, operating ranges and service security. Here, the underground construction method […]
Intelligent solutions for e-mobility
Journalist Asset management, Electricity, Sponsored Editorial, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK 0The expansion of e-mobility infrastructure creates enormous challenges, not only to power suppliers and manufacturers of the charging technology, but also to the public sector and consumers. The global climate targets for reducing greenhouse gases make the rapid expansion of nationwide charging infrastructures one of the most urgent tasks. The underground installation of pipes and cables can make a decisive […]

Trenchless technology assists major pipeline upgrade
Charlotte Pordage Features, Trenchless technology, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK, Water, Water and Wastewater Treatment 0Gippsland Water recently completed a $1 million upgrade to the Regional Outfall System (ROS) at Flynn, which will help to ensure wastewater service reliability for major industry, including Australian Paper’s Maryvale Mill, now and into the future. The Regional Outfall System was built back in the 1950s to transport wastewater from the Latrobe Valley down to Dutson Downs, East of […]
A lot happening underground in Logan
Charlotte Pordage Asset management, Civil Construction, Features, Pipelines, Projects, Trenchless technology, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK, Water, Water and Wastewater Treatment 0Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology is leading to significant environmental benefits in the City of Logan, while also resulting in major cost savings for ratepayers. The technology is being used in sections of a 9.6km trunk infrastructure pipeline (up to 700mm in diameter) being built between Greenbank and Flagstone as part of the network that will service the city’s new […]
Trenchless technology enables essential sewer upgrade
Charlotte Pordage Features, Projects, Trenchless technology, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK, Water, Water and Wastewater Treatment 0Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a steerable trenchless method of installing underground pipes, conduits and cables in a shallow arc along a prescribed path by using a surface launched drilling rig, with limited impact on the surrounding area. Unitywater, which supplies water and sewerage services to the Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast and Noosa regions in South-East Queensland, utilised this method […]
Protecting property and preserving wildlife with trenchless technology
Lauren Butler Features, Pipelines, Trenchless Technology - TRACTO-TECHNIK, Water 0Yarra Valley Water encountered numerous challenges during the installation of a $40 million project that will shift the suburb of Donvale from the use of aging septic tanks to a modern sewerage system. To tackle the challenging ground conditions and the major impact it would cause to customers, Yarra Valley Water had to rethink its approach and come up with new sewer designs that, where possible, moved the sewer alignment out of customers’ properties and into the nearby road reserve.
