The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has announced a number of new changes to its executive leadership team.

Kate Ryan will be joining AEMO from February 2022, in the role of EGM WA & Strategy.

An experienced leader in both the WA energy market and energy strategy more broadly, Kate joins AEMO from Energy Policy WA, where she has led that organisation since 2019.

Kate’s knowledge and experience built over decades in the energy industry will enable AEMO to manage the fast pace of the energy transition happening in WA, and also assist the organisation with its goal of managing periods of 100 per cent renewable penetration in the NEM by 2025.

Former Transurban executive, Vanessa Hannan, will be joining AEMO as EGM Finance on an interim basis, from late January.

This follows news that Julie Williams, EGM Finance, will be leaving AEMO in late February, following her resignation from the company.

Finally, Tony Chappel, who is EGM Corporate Affairs and Legal, has announced he will be leaving AEMO in the second quarter to pursue an external opportunity in the industry.

Further announcements about Tony’s replacement will be made in coming months.
