Construction of one of the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) installations in Tasmania has been completed.
SRT Logistics, a Tasmanian-owned transport company, partnered with Aurora Energy and Beon Energy Solutions to deliver the system across its two distribution centres in Launceston and Devonport.
The solution was custom-designed to meet the specific electricity requirements of SRT Logistics, while optimising the existing infrastructure and geographical features to produce the most efficient system possible.
The state-of-the-art, 2546 panel, 831kW solar system is expected to generate over 1 million kWhs per year, or the equivalent of powering 143 homes.
SRT Logistics expects the new solar array will reduce its energy costs by up to 50 per cent.
Aurora Energy CEO Rebecca Kardos said the business would continue to explore the role it could play in the delivery of renewable energy solutions for its commercial customers.

SRT Logistics CEO Robert Miller said the two-month long installation was a great example of a project delivering both strong commercial outcomes and broader benefits to the local economy.
“For SRT Logistics it was sound business decision to install a solar PV system and to do so we needed experts in the field that we could rely on and trust,” Mr Miller said.
“That’s why we teamed up with Aurora Energy, Beon Energy Solutions, and local electrical
contractors to achieve this.”
Given the success experienced to date, Aurora Energy will continue to explore future opportunities to deliver commercial energy solutions to Tasmanian businesses.
