Construction has begun on a new fixed wireless facility, which will bring the NBN to residents and businesses in Boreen Point (QLD).

According to Federal Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss“The construction of this fixed wireless tower will deliver a quantum leap in the speed of services available to almost 240 premises in Boreen Point.”

“Once completed and operational, the tower will provide internet speeds of around 25mbps download and 5mbps upload, which is comparable to high-end ADSL2+ services in metropolitan areas.

“The fixed wireless network will utilise advanced 4G technology, which is fast enough to allow local users to stream multiple high definition videos simultaneously.”

Mr Truss said it was expected that broadband and phone services will be able to be connected over the NBN from phone companies and internet providers within 12 months.

The NBN will update residents when construction is completed and services become available.
