The Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) has broken its previous record for annual gas delivery to its Western Australian customers by over 11,000TJ.
DBP Transmission (DBP), who own and operate the pipeline, delivered a total of 360,854TJ to its customers throughout Western Australia – an increase of 11,640TJ over its 2014/15 record.
These record deliveries were fuelled by heightened demand for gas-fired power generation in the Pilbara region.
DBP CEO Stuart Johnston said the record delivery demonstrated the continued importance of the DBNGP as Western Australia’s most strategically significant energy infrastructure asset.
“We’re really pleased that the DBNGP continues to meet demand of our customers, and has further capacity to transport full-haul throughput of up to 845 TJ/day if required,” Mr Johnston said.
“The record throughput figures demonstrate the benefits of DBP’s continued investment in the pipeline’s expansion since 2004 and reinforces the importance of ongoing investment into the future.”
