Australia’s leading utilities provider, Downer Group, is thrilled to announce a new partnership with WaterAid, an international not-for-profit organisation committed to improving access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for the world’s poorest communities.

Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, access to clean water and sanitation is a privilege not a right. To combat this, WaterAid works with the world’s poorest and most marginalised communities to set up practical and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene projects that meet their real needs.

Downer’s partnership will assist WaterAid in continuing to make a positive difference in people’s lives around the globe.

Chief Operating Officer of Downer’s Utilities business, James Kafanelis, said that Downer was excited to commence the partnership with WaterAid and will provide funding to help support WaterAid’s invaluable work.

“It has been great to formalise our support of WaterAid via this partnership, which includes Silver membership and major sponsorship of WaterAid’s signature gala dinners in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane,” Mr Kafanelis said.

“We’re also looking forward to getting behind the annual Walk for Water event coming up in October, with our employees driving the fundraising efforts for this important cause.

“Helping to make a positive difference to people’s lives is a cause that’s close to our hearts and our people have been passionate supporters of WaterAid for many years.

“Our WaterAid partnership is a perfect fit with our goal to deliver safe and sustainable services and infrastructure to connect communities and enable them to thrive.”

WaterAid’s CEO, Tom Muller, said the organisation was proud to be partnering with Downer.

“We are extremely grateful to Downer for this new partnership and their support of WaterAid Australia. Through their generosity, we are able to continue our vital work to bring clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to those most in need,” Mr Muller said.

“It is partnerships like this which enable us to work towards a future where access to these basic human rights is a reality for all. We thank Downer for standing with us in our mission to create a better future.”

Downer Utilities provides a range of end-to-end services and solutions for the Utilities sector, encompassing power and gas networks, water and wastewater, telecommunications, metering services and power, transmission and renewable construction.

As the leading provider of integrated water services in Australia and New Zealand, Downer provided complete water lifecycle solutions for urban water and wastewater service providers.
