Sydney Water’s former Managing Director Dr Kerry Schott AO has been congratulated by the company for her appointment into the order of Australia.

Serving as Sydney Water’s Managing Director from 2006-2011, Dr Schott AO oversaw a number of vital infrastructure projects that helped to protect Sydney’s drinking water supply during time of prolonged drought.

Sydney Water’s acting CEO, Eric de Rooy has said, “Dr Schott was instrumental in leading Sydney Water through some challenging times of drought in the mid to late 2000s.

“Dr Schott helped drought-proof Sydney with water efficiency approaches, demand management and recycling of used water, and we still have these benefits today.

“Her leadership during the delivery of the Sydney’s Desalination Plant was exemplary and ensured its delivery on time and under budget.

“Dr Schott also played a critical role in the relocation of the Sydney Water Head Office from Bathurst Street, Sydney to Parramatta and transforming our operational centre at Potts Hill.

“In more recent times Dr. Schott was exemplary in her role in dealing with the former directors of Australian Water Holdings.

“Kerry is a person of personal integrity and strong ethics which makes her an exceptional leader. Her appointment to the Order of Australia is highly deserved and on behalf of Sydney Water I would like to thank Kerry for her contribution over a long period of time.”

Dr Schott AO also served on Sydney Water’s Board as a Non-Executive Director from 1997-2001.
