The Alexandra Headland foreshore has undergone important environmental works over the past month, with an upgrade of the coastal pipeline ensuring the strip is safe from sewage overflows.

The sewerage main servicing the area runs parallel to the waterline between the beach and the parkland.

Unitywater Executive Manager Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions, Scott Barnes, said that the month-long renewal works included relining the aging sewerage main and renewing its manholes.

“The foreshore is very popular with locals and visitors alike and the coastline is environmentally sensitive,” Mr Barnes said.

“Completing the works makes sure the coastal strip is safe from sewage overflows when extreme weather hits.”
