The Victorian Labor Government has expanded its electricity network safety framework review to include Australia’s gas system.
The main objective of the review, to be chaired by Dr Paul Grimes, is to enhance the safety of Victoria’s electricity and gas supply for the benefit of all consumers.
This expansion of the review will ensure the existing arrangements governing the safety of Victoria’s gas network are effective in protecting the community now and into the future.
Dr Grimes has held positions as Secretary for the Australian Government’s Department of Agriculture and the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio said, “Our review will complement the set of reforms we’ve already introduced to enhance the safety of our community from the risks associated with energy supply.
“While the national electricity and gas markets deliver safe and reliable energy to consumers, they need to adapt to changes in our environment and energy network.”
