Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is undertaking essential pipeline replacement works at the corner of Dawson Highway and Breslin Street, West Gladstone.
GAWB CEO, Darren Barlow, said works would start in early October 2025 to replace a section of an underground treated water pipeline that runs underneath the Dawson Highway, at the Tintersection of Breslin Street.
“It’s critical we maintain our assets and replace ageing infrastructure, so we can continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable water supply,” Mr Barlow said.
“When completed, the new section of pipeline will ensure the future of safe and reliable treated water supply to our customers, by reducing the risk of supply disruptions.”
Construction works are scheduled to start in early October and continue throughout November 2025. Contractors will be working at designated construction sites on both sides of the Tintersection of Dawson Highway and Breslin Street, West Gladstone, from 7am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, with possible Sunday works if required.
The sites will be fully fenced and secured when unattended. From early October 2025, GAWB teams will begin mobilising construction sites around the Tintersection, including a laydown area and excavation site in Kooyong Park, and across the highway next to the pedestrian underpass that traverses the North Coast railway line.
“GAWB is committed to undertaking this work safely, reliably and with minimal disruption to local businesses, households and road users during the works,” Mr Barlow said.
“Our construction sites will be located adjacent to the road – away from road users.
“Dawson Highway will remain open to traffic at all times during the works. However, the speed limit along this section of the highway may be reduced at times.
“Alternative pedestrian routes will be created in Kooyong Park and on the northern side of the highway to ensure foot traffic is separated from construction crews, heavy vehicles and excavation works.
“Importantly, there are no planned disruptions to local water supply during the construction period.”
