Aquatech China is a leading international trade event for the process, drinking and wastewater industries. The exhibition provides an unprecedented opportunity for those looking to break into the Chinese water industries.

Aquatech China will take place in the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai from 10 to 12 June 2015. Recently completed, the brand-new complex is the world’s largest exhibition building.

As part of the event, CDP will be launching its first report on The Business Case for Corporate Water Reporting in China during the opening ceremony.

Largest water exhibition in Asia

Aquatech China was launched in 2008. The first exhibition welcomed 291 exhibitors and over 14,000 visitors. Now, eight years later, Aquatech China features 1,400 exhibitors, and the organisers are expecting over 45,000 attendees from around the world.

To provide a comprehensive offer for exhibitors and visitors alike, the 2015 edition will be co-located with FlowEx and Ecotech. FLowEx is an exhibition focused on pumps, pipes and valves, while Ecotech features the latest technologies in the field of air pollution and solid waste.

International businesses see potential in Chinese water sector

Access to sufficient clean water, reducing environmental and water pollution, and promoting sustainable development in China require concrete solutions.

Water shortages make the water sector a relevant and interesting industry to invest in for non-Chinese companies. The Chinese government is making considerable investments in improving the sector, while depending on non-Chinese companies to offer the required technologies and knowhow that is not widely available in China itself.

The number of international participants confirms the interest in China from abroad. They include new participants such as the Netherlands, Spain and Germany and return participants from South Korea, WQA, Taiwan, Canada and Japan.

Complex market with a wealth of opportunities

China is an economic superpower without a transparent market economy, and is known as being a complex and difficult to access market. The provinces, regions or cities can be seen as individual markets with major differences in wealth and spending power, codes of conduct, regulations and customs.

The organisers of Aquatech China support international visitors and exhibitors through various means including a workshop on successful business in China, and an international network reception on the second day of the event.

Matchmaking is facilitated by organisations such as the Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSO) and Enterprise Europe Network. In addition, visitors and exhibitors will be supported by facilities such as interpreters, hotel & taxi services and an international service desk on the exhibition floor.

Report launch with forum on industrial water usage

The inaugural edition of the Industrial Leader Forum China took place in 2014 and saw captains of industry from companies such as H&M, Coca-Cola and Akzo Nobel discuss current water issues in an interactive forum setting. The forum will be continued in 2015.

Organised by CDP, attendees will be invited to join the discussion on how industry can improve water management, increasing the sustainability of industrial water use. The forum will be kicked off by the launch of CDP’s first water report focused on China, which provides insight into the impact of water-related challenges on companies with head offices and facilities located within the region. The report finds, among other things, that 30% of companies report that problems with water could result in brand damage.
