Gippsland Water has deployed a new mobile disinfection unit to improve drinking water safety and accelerate the delivery of water services across its network.
The trailer-mounted system can be rapidly transported between sites, enabling crews to disinfect water tanks and other assets more efficiently when new or upgraded infrastructure is brought online.
Gippsland Water General Manager Operations Chris Wood said the unit would help reduce delays and improve service reliability for customers.
“This portable system means we can get water services up and running more quickly after upgrades or maintenance,” Wood said.
“That helps maintain a safe, consistent water supply for our customers and reduces downtime across our network.”
The mobile unit eliminates the need to duplicate disinfection equipment at multiple locations, supporting more efficient operations and better use of resources across the region.
Disinfection is a critical step in ensuring drinking water meets stringent health and safety standards before being supplied to homes and businesses.
The unit will also strengthen Gippsland Water’s emergency response capability by providing a flexible solution for managing unexpected incidents and maintaining service continuity.
