Gippsland Water has released its annual Community Report, which showcases the organisation’s performance over the last 12 months against its 2023–28 Price Submission.

The delivery of major projects, including replacing a section of the regional outfall system in Traralgon and upgrading the north-east sewer in Warragul, were among the utility’s highlights.

The north-east sewer upgrade ensures the security of water by accommodating for the future growth of the region, reducing the risk of main failures.

A section of the regional outfall system in Traralgon was replaced to protect the surrounding houses and the environment, while ensuring the continuity of services to major customers.

The organisation also undertook the complex task of replacing ageing covers on two industrial wastewater lagoons at the Gippsland Water Factory in Morwell, an industry-first in the Victorian water sector.

Gippsland Regional Organics, one of Gippsland Water’s commercial businesses, was expanded to reduce the amount of waste going into landfill, making it the largest composting facility in Victoria.

The organisation also collaborated with GLaWAC and Gunai artist Alice Pepper to install First Nations artwork on the Stratford water tower.

Throughout the year, customers were also engaged on a range of issues and projects important to them and their feedback helped inform the organisation’s future planning and delivery of its promises.
