Gippsland Water will soon begin work to repair the Port of Sale pump station near Flooding Creek in Sale (VIC).
The works will commence in mid-July and bring about a permanent repair to the sewage pump station after a failure in February saw a small amount of untreated waste flow into the Port of Sale.
A large area of temporary fencing has been erected to ensure security within the site and the safety of the public who are cautioned that the site will see heavy machinery such as large trucks, cranes and excavators.
Works will take place day and night as Gippsland Water staff take advantage of low flow periods. The required works are both complex and challenging with the movement and installation of large sections of pipe on site.
The pump station is the largest of Gippsland Water’s assets in Sale and receives approximately four million litres of untreated sewage a day from Sale, Wurruk and Fulham before being piped to Dutson Downs for treatment.
This project has been in planning since the fault in mid-February and seen specialist pipe and other equipment being sourced to ensure a successful outcome to the works.
