Baw Baw Shire Council (VIC), in partnership with AusNet Services, has implemented a community development program that will award grants to local not-for-profit organisations for eligible projects.
The ‘Energising Your Community’ program has received $20,000 from AusNet Services, and will accept applications until 20 March 2015.
AusNet Services Regional Business Manager Tim Lloyd said that the company is proud to support eligible community-minded groups deliver sustainable projects.
“Building stronger relationships in the communities we service is important to our company, which is why we’re partnering with the Baw Baw Shire Council to help local organisations,” Mr Lloyd said.
“Our community development programs have been highly successful in helping not-for-profit organisations tackle the challenges facing their communities,” he said.
Mayor of Baw Baw Shire, Councillor Debbie Brown, said that the program would provide valuable funds for local groups.
“We know there are many passionate people in our community working hard behind the scenes in many different areas including sporting and recreation clubs, service organisations and support groups to name a few. Being able to access grants to develop projects or deliver services or events will benefit not just these groups, but the wider community.
“This sort of funding creates real opportunities to improve social wellbeing, deliver community events or perhaps even pay for much needed infrastructure, equipment or renovations,” she said.
