Greater Western Water (GWW) trainee Adlin Chand has taken home the People’s Choice title at the Apprentice Training Network’s 2024 Awards.
Ms Chand was nominated two awards; the People’s Choice Award and the Trainee of the Year Award.
Following her passion for natural resources, Ms Chand, a Skillinvest Trainee, is currently enrolled in a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations and completing her traineeship with GWW. Through GWW’s Training Academy and her role in the Water Operations team, MS Chang is gaining hands-on experience while working towards her qualification and career within the water industry.
GWW General Manager for Operations and Delivery Solutions, Jodie Hallam, said both the nominations and the win demonstrated Ms Chand’s outstanding work and passion for the water industry.
“This is a fantastic achievement for Adlin, who has already proven herself as a valuable member of the GWW team.
“Not only is Adlin tackling real-world challenges in the water industry through her traineeship, she’s also inspiring other young women to pursue their goals and thrive in usually male-dominated fields,” Ms Hallam said.
Ms Chand said winning the People’s Choice Award felt very special.
“I’ll always feel like a winner thanks to my team. I am who I am today because they have never stopped teaching, supporting and believing in me.
“I also want to thank everyone who has voted for me for this award,” she said.
GWW established its Training Academy to meet the current and future needs of its growing region. Collaborating with registered training organisations and partners like Skillinvest, the Training Academy coordinates the GWW trainee program and essential training courses for employees and others within the water industry, with a focus on optimising safety and operational excellence.
