Coliban Water’s pipeline contractor Redline Mining & Infrastructure has returned to Harcourt, Victoria, to resume work on its Rural Modernisation Project.
A revised program for the works to be completed is being prepared and, when it is finalised, a date for resumption of work will be confirmed.
The $40 million project will replace 65 kilometres of open channels with a new underground piped water system, saving an estimated 3,000 megalitres of water per year – comprising an estimated 950 megalitres lost from the channel system and a further 2,000 megalitres from water licences that rural customers sold to Coliban Water in 2013.
The project team has been continuing to work one-on-one with landowners in regards to reinstatement works. Existing Harcourt rural customers will receive their supply this season via the existing channel system.
