ElectraNet will be reinforcing the high-voltage transmission network on Eyre Peninsula to meet the region’s growing demand for power and address emerging voltage issues. The entire Eyre Peninsula will be able to access and benefit from this improved power source.
An earlier ElectraNet transmission network upgrade to replace the ageing Whyalla substation with a higher capacity Whyalla Central substation has supported this current stage of the transmission network reinforcement on Eyre Peninsula. These current works will subsequently pave the way for the Eyre Peninsula Reinforcement Project, which proposes a new transmission line for the region. That larger regional reinforcement project is currently on hold until confirmation of load-increases from mining companies is confirmed.
This Cultana substation upgrade project will provide safe and reliable electricity supply and meet the increasing demands of the Eyre Peninsula both now and into the future.
