The latest round of Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program is open, with the utility encouraging organisations making a positive difference in Western Australia’s regional communities to apply.
Horizon Power said that the Community Partnerships Program is its way of giving back, supporting those who enhance the lives of residents living in regional and remote Western Australia.
The program’s focus is on initiatives that have a strong community impact, ensuring that funds go toward programs and events that are accessible to many and contribute to the overall wellbeing of the community.
On behalf of the Western Australian Government, Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program provides $1.1 million each financial year to community initiatives and events that positively impact the state’s remote and regional communities.
Since 2020, Horizon Power has awarded almost $5 million to more than 490 initiatives in regional Western Australia. Recent recipients include the Broome-based Kimberley Arts Network, Kununurra’s Kangaroo Haven Wildlife Rescue Centre, the Exmouth Toy Library, the Rotary Club of Esperance, and the Karratha Junior Rugby League.
The Community Partnerships Program aims to support not-for-profit organisations and local Governments, enhancing the lives of residents within Horizon Power’s service area, which includes the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid West, Esperance and Goldfields regions.
Horizon Power CEO, Stephanie Unwin, said the program was focused on supporting initiatives in the regions that have a strong community impact.
“Our Community Partnerships Program reflects our commitment to supporting the unique needs of regional and remote Western Australia, ensuring that every initiative we partner with has a meaningful impact on the communities we serve,” Ms Unwin said.
“Our evaluation criteria ensure funds go towards programs and events across our footprint that are accessible to many and contribute to the overall wellbeing of the community.”
Partnerships of up to $10,000 are available to successful applicants of initiatives within a single Horizon Power region and up to $50,000 for organisations that impact multiple regional communities.
“We are proud of the strong relationships we have built with community partners in the regions and the opportunity to support so many unique organisations and initiatives which are enriching the lives of our customers who live in remote and regional areas,” Ms Unwin said.
“We believe that by investing in local partnerships, we empower communities to lead projects that bring social, environmental and economic benefits, fostering resilience and innovation in the regions.”
Applications for the latest round of partnerships close on Friday, 28 February 2025. Successful partnership recipients will be announced in April 2025.
