Horizon Power has launched its Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2025–28, reaffirming its commitment to reconciliation and the empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across regional and remote Western Australia.
This milestone was celebrated at an on-Country event in the Kimberley community of Beagle Bay, on Wednesday 8 October 2025.
Building on the successes of Horizon Power’s previous three RAPs, the new Stretch RAP outlines its continued dedication to fostering respectful relationships, creating opportunities, and driving positive change.
Since the launch of its second Innovate RAP in October 2022, Horizon Power has surpassed its targets for Aboriginal employment and procurement.
The Stretch RAP will continue to build on these achievements, with a focus on deepening engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, enhancing cultural awareness and competency within the organisation and driving sustainable economic development.
Horizon Power Acting CEO, Krystal Skinner, said the organisation – which includes 50 Aboriginal employees, representing eight per cent of its workforce – was dedicated to growing the cultural competence of its staff, and providing a safe, culturally aware and welcoming environment for all employees.
“We want to lead our industry with reconciliation actions that are informed by our Aboriginal employees and the broader Aboriginal communities on the lands we operate in,” Ms Skinner said.
The organisation is embedding reconciliation at the heart of its business, with purposeful practices and programs, including mandatory cultural awareness training, cultural immersions and proactive employment programs to increase representation of Aboriginal people in its workforce.
Horizon Power is also committed to engaging with Traditional Owners, regional and remote communities, and regional service providers to ensure its work is grounded in cultural respect and community priorities.
“We recognise that reconciliation is a shared journey – one that requires active listening, genuine collaboration, and sustained action,” Ms Skinner said.
