Ergon Energy Retail customers are set to trial the residential Hybrid Energy Service to determine if it will be offered across Regional Queensland in the future.

The 12 month trial will be conducted in 33 homes across Townsville, Cannonvale and Toowoomba with larger household energy users targeted (e.g. four+ bedroom family homes).

Ergon Energy understands that their customers want choice in how they manage their energy needs and certainty over their electricity bills.

With more than 400,000 homes in Queensland now with solar on their roofs, the next big shift is finding the best way to combine this technology with batteries for home storage so Ergon’s customers in regional Queensland can take advantage of the great conditions that they have in sunny Queensland.

A 4.9kW SunPower PV array and a 12kWh/5kW Sunverge battery storage and control system will be installed at each trial site. These will be owned and maintained by Ergon Energy Retail. Customers will sign-up for a one year trial with the possibility of extension.

The Hybrid Energy Service trial will assess how Ergon can best deliver a reliable, cost effective option to their customers in the future.

Ergon Energy Retail’s Hybrid Energy Service is one of a number of products and services being explored as part of a commitment by Ergon Energy Retail to provide customers with choice and ease over their energy needs.
