nbn has launched its first Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) services to retail service providers in Redcliffe, Queensland.
Around 18,000 premises are now ready for service and providers can now connect customers to the NBN network.
nbn has extended and upgraded the former cable networks of Telstra and Optus to deliver HFC services on the NBN network
This means homes and businesses in the Redcliffe area will now be able to order an nbn service and access peak wholesale speeds.
nbn currently has plans to have 875,000 HFC premises ready for service with 200,000 of those end-user premises activated on the NBN network by June 2017.
