More than 200 computer monitors are going to charities, families and students across the state, thanks to a donation from Hydro Tasmania.
Hydro Tasmania said it bought the equipment at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when hundreds of staff needed to quickly transition to working-from-home.
Hydro Tasmania Executive General Manager of People, Culture and Engagement, Ruth Groom, said the monitors were now surplus to needs.
“We are delighted the monitors can find new homes with charities doing important work, especially ahead of the holiday season when they are busier than ever,” Ms Groom said.
“It’s also a great way to recycle and minimise waste.”
St Vincent de Paul Tasmania CEO, Heather Kent, said they had received 60 monitors, which would be given to families and students, and used in their emergency crisis centres.
“Every year during November and December we receive an increase in requests for support from people in the community that are finding it really hard to get by,” Ms Kent said.
“In addition to the families these monitors will help, our members work from almost every corner of Tasmania and the capacity to support their service to the community is really important.”
Computer monitors are also being donated to Neighborhood Houses Tasmania, the Salvation Army, Beacon Foundation and the Tasmanian Council of Social Services.
