Iberdrola Australia has expanded its renewable energy portfolio with the acquisition of Victoria’s 242MW Ararat Wind Farm, the largest in its Australian holdings.
The purchase brings the company’s owned capacity to 2.5GW and its total operating capacity to 2.74GW.
The wind farm, operational since 2017, was acquired from Partners Group and OPTrust.
The deal strengthens Iberdrola Australia’s presence in Victoria, complementing its selection as Development Partner for the 240km VNI West interconnector, its feasibility licence for the 3GW Aurora Green Offshore Wind Farm off Gippsland, the 57.6MW Cherry Tree Wind Farm offtake contract, and its Mount Doran Battery development.
“The acquisition of Ararat Wind Farm reflects our ongoing commitment to Victoria’s energy transition and to delivering reliable, affordable electricity for our customers,” said Paul Simshauser, Iberdrola Australia’s CEO.
Iberdrola Australia also contracts 100 per cent of the output from Cherry Tree Wind Farm, 60 per cent from the 227MW Collector Wind Farm in NSW and manages dispatch control for the 50MW Wallgrove Grid Battery.
