The Simmonds & Bristow Integrated Water Management System is a comprehensive service package designed to address all of your water requirements.

Engineers and scientists services

At Simmonds & Bristow, our team of engineers and environmental scientists are ready to help you get the most out of your water assets. Whether you need a new plant designed or commissioned, an older plant retrofitted to keep it humming, an environmental assessment completed or assistance with your state’s environmental regulator, we’re here to help.

Water sampling, testing and environmental monitoring

One area of our expertise is routine monitoring programs. These allow you to monitor possible impacts your activities may be having on your people, plant and/or environment. A consistent, regular program with sound scientific foundations will give you confidence that you are doing the right things to meet your environmental responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to learn about your operational impact and how to minimise it proactively.

Routine monitoring programs are designed differently depending on their purpose and where you are in the business lifecycle. Help us match your particular needs to the most relevant standards, guidelines, licences or permits (if they apply)  and, of course, your own operational requirements.

We can devise an effective yet economic program that fits your needs, location, environment and purpose of monitoring.

Routine monitoring programs involve:

  • Sampling program design
  • Sample collection
  • Laboratory liaison
  • Interpretive reporting
  • Remedial actions for all aspects of water quality

We can monitor your:

  • Stormwater
  • Potable water
  • Trade waste
  • Effluent/process water
  • Groundwater
  • Water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Irrigation water
  • Recycled water
  • Soil
  • Plant tissue

Simmonds & Bristow can help you with:

  • Environmental monitoring program design
  • Routine environmental monitoring and water sampling programs
  • Impact and compliance reporting
  • Complex environmental and public health monitoring
  • Laboratory liaison

Planning and development support

Simmonds & Bristow can help you prepare and negotiate environmental licences and development applications. This is achieved by constructing environmental management systems and site-based management plans.

Our scientists develop, in consultation with you, the conditions that should realistically appear in the licence for your site or activity. If needed, we can also assist your negotiations with the relevant government authority for acceptance.

Wherever possible, licence conditions proposed will be:

  • Measurable
  • Practical
  • Affordable
  • Arguable on scientific fact

Once your approvals and licences are in place, we can assist you with implementation and monitoring.

Environmental assessment and analysis

Understanding the science behind your operating environment requires specialist support. Simmonds & Bristow has a team of professional scientists dedicated to assisting at every stage of your development and operation.

Simmonds & Bristow can help you with:

  • Environmental monitoring
  • Complex environmental and public health monitoring
  • Development applications and environmental licensing
  • Management water treatment plans and support
  • Expert witness service
  • Environmental risk and impact assessment
  • Air quality monitoring/modelling

Design solutions

Simmonds & Bristow’s extensive experience with water and wastewater treatment plants has enabled the development of a full range of engineering services. These services have been designed to meet the increasing demands of industry, government and communities.

Simmonds & Bristow can help you with:

We have the experience to develop innovative, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly wastewater treatment systems using the best technology available.
Simmond & Bristow’s engineering team also work as troubleshooting consultants to save our clients time and money whenever treatment plant problems and technical issues arise.

Our specialist engineering team has successfully designed and commissioned a range of water and sewage treatment plants across Australia, including:

  • Municipal water and desalination treatment plants
  • Sewage and wastewater treatment plants
  • Trade waste treatment plants
  • Recycled water plants
  • Stormwater treatment systems
  • Pool treatment systems

Start-up and commissioning

Treatment plants are commissioned to test the specifications. To achieve the most predictable and stable operation, we bring the plant online at a steady and controlled rate.

Through commissioning your new plant, we can find and remedy many of the faults inherent in any new plant before handover to your operations team. This ensures operators can focus on running their plant rather than using their valuable time repairing defects or faults in the system.

Simmonds & Bristow can commission its own designs or independently commission other supplier’s designs and constructions.

One of our team will be present throughout the commissioning period to oversee all operations and completion of the training of your crew.

Simmonds & Bristow can help you with:

  • On-site clean water testing and treatment
  • Process commissioning and performance proving
  • Operation and maintenance manuals
  • Engineers certificate
  • Commissioning report
