Industry-leading pipeline repair, restoration and renewal company, Interflow has been recognised for its excellence in the ASTT’s most prestigious awards for trenchless technology.

Every year, the Australian society of Trenchless Technology (ASTT) embarks on a nationwide hunt to find the movers and shakers in the trenchless technology industry.

Interflow’s Managing Director and pioneer in trenchless solutions, Geoff Weaver, took home the ASTT Person of the Year Award on Thursday 12 September 2019. Organised by the ASTT, this award recognises an individual who has made major and sustained contributions to the trenchless industry.

Geoff Weaver, Interflow’s Managing Director

Geoff has been with the emerging fourth-generation family owned business for over 41 years. Throughout his tenure as Managing Director, Geoff has directed the expansion of Interflow’s operations across Australia, established international operations in New Zealand, negotiated two twenty-year exclusive Australasian licenses for spirally wound rehabilitation products from Sekisui Rib Loc Australia, and has taken a leading role in the development of trenchless technology.

As a result of Geoff’s contributions, Interflow has become Australia’s largest provider of trenchless pipeline solutions, making it the preferred delivery partner within its chosen market.

The business has entrenched values of honesty, reliability and competence, which have been the cornerstone of its success. The key driver that enables Interflow to demonstrate these values is through its people. Recognising this, Geoff states that Interflow’s people are the company’s most valued asset.

“I want to emphasise that taking home the ASTT Person of the Year Award could not have been possible without the people at Interflow,” Geoff said.

“Whether it be past or present, I am very grateful for everyone’s contributions. Each person has brought their own unique set of ideas and skills, which have built the Interflow family that operates today.”

Geoff Weaver has gone above and beyond the call of duty to grow, develop and promote the use of trenchless technology across Australasia and the world.

Turning heads with innovation

The award recognition did not end there – Interflow’s Eastern Force Main Rehabilitation project won the ASTT Rehabilitation Project of the Year Award.

The project is a prime example of how Interflow challenged the status quo and provided a flexible trenchless solution for the City of Gold Coast’s Eastern Force Main. This was the first time the technology had been used in the southern hemisphere, so the business drew on its connections with major water authorities to procure the necessary materials and tools to complete the job.

Keeping project efficiency and community relations as top priorities, Interflow’s delivery team successfully restored the main within two weeks of initial failure – just in time for the tourist peak season for the Gold Coast.

As an organisation that values solving customers’ problems through innovation, collaboration and people, Interflow is truly humbled by these honourable recognitions.

“The ASTT Awards recognises those who have made a difference, giving people from all walks of life a chance to be noticed for the work they do within their organisation,” Geoff said.

“I would like to thank ASTT and its attendees for empowering people in the field of trenchless technology and recognising the work they do.”
