CitiPower and Powercor have almost completed stage one of a Victorian lighting project that has replaced  more than 20,000 streetlights.

The ‘Lighting the Regions’ project is now nearing completion of Stage One, with more than 20,000 streetlights changed since the project commenced.

The Mount Alexander region in and around Bendigo has been completed with more than 700 streetlights changed. The West Wimmera region is now in progress, and will be the final region to be completed as part of this project.

Lighting the Regions is the replacement of almost 23,000 streetlights to more energy efficient technology which will reduce energy consumption and save regional councils over $57 million over 20 years in energy costs.

CitiPower and Powercor is the Distribution Network Service Provider for the Lighting the Regions project and maintains and operates the street lighting infrastructure on behalf of the local government partners.

The Lighting the Regions project recently visited the small town of Warracknabeal in the Yarriambiack Shire to inform the local community on streetlight changeover and how to be more energy efficient in the home.

Many of the locals commented on how they noticed the increased bright lighting in their streets as a result of the changeover, and the overall response from the local community was very positive toward the project.
