The Geospatial Council of Australia is thrilled to announce the launch of the much-anticipated Locate24 full program, set to take place at the prestigious International Convention Centre in Sydney. 

The esteemed astrophysicist and science communicator, Lisa Harvey-Smith, will be the MC at this three-day event, which promises to be a beacon of knowledge and networking in the field of geospatial technologies. 

The release of accepted workshops and abstracts for Locate24 has been eagerly anticipated, and now, the wait is finally over! With exceptional submissions flooding in, attendees can expect a thrilling array of concurrent sessions covering a vast spectrum of topics crucial to the geospatial industry. This influx ensures that participants will have access to a diverse lineup of workshops and sessions, offering unparalleled insights and expertise in every facet of the field. 

Registration and Exhibition Showcase 

The late registration rate for Locate24 is now available, providing attendees with full access to the conference program. Additionally, on May 7th, participants can explore the exhibition showcase free-of-charge, offering an opportunity to engage with leading companies and innovators in the geospatial sector. Registration for the Tuesday the 7th is still required on the registration site. 

PLENARY SESSIONS & SPEAKERS 

Economic Value of Geospatial Information Plenary 

The conference commences with a captivating plenary session on the economic value of geospatial information. The honourable Kate Lundy, board member of the Geospatial Council of Australia, will unveil the highly anticipated Economic Impact of Geospatial Information report, accompanied by compelling case studies presented by Narelle Underwood, Martine Woolf and Paul Farrell. This session sets the stage for an enlightening conference experience, emphasizing the pivotal role of geospatial data in driving economic growth and innovation. 

Ethics and Governance in Gen-AI Plenary 

Addressing the ethical implications of generative AI in the workplace, the Ethics and Governance in Gen-AI plenary features a distinguished panel of experts including Ian Oppermann, John Valastro and Fang Chen. Led by the Director of the National AI Centre CSIRO, Stela Solar, the panel will delve into discussions on governance frameworks and risk management strategies, offering insights into the future impact of AI on the geospatial sector. 

Sustainable Horizons: Integrating Culture, Community, and Environment 

Deen Sanders, Rory Brown, Dyan Currie and James Johnson lead a thought-provoking discussion on sustainable horizons, exploring the intersection of technology, culture and environmental stewardship. From Indigenous mapping to smart cities and sustainable development, this session offers valuable insights into leveraging technology for positive social and environmental impact. 

The Future of Geospatial Ecosystems Plenary 

Delving into the evolving landscape of geospatial ecosystems, this session features leaders such as Brian Nicholls, Lisa Bush, Victor Khoo, Sisi Zlatanova and Tony Wheeler. Attendees can expect an interactive discussion on the transformative potential of emerging technologies and trends, paving the way for cross-functional integration and collaboration within the geospatial industry.
