Coliban Water will begin maintenance of the Castlemaine water supply network in February 2016 to ensure the delivery of safe drinking water to customers.
The maintenance program will take six weeks to complete throughout Castlemaine, Newstead, Chewton, Harcourt, Barkers Creek, Fryerstown, Elphinestone, Taradale, Yapeen and Guildford.
Coliban Water will slightly increase amount of chlorine that is added to the water supply at the water treatment plant to ensure disinfection levels of the network are maintained and the supply is of the highest quality.
Manager Assets and Operations, Steve Dunlop, said ongoing maintenance of the network is important to ensure the continued delivery of safe drinking water.
“This program was successful throughout the Castlemaine supply network in 2014 and has also been successful through other Coliban networks as part of their individual routine maintenance programs.
“We anticipate that this type of maintenance will take place periodically. Cleaning the water mains ensures we continue to supply high quality drinking water to our customers and meet the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines,” Mr Dunlop said.
