Registrations are now officially open for the National Construction Equipment Convention (NCEC), running from 15-17 November in Sydney, which will bring together major brands and industry experts in the civil construction sector to discuss the industry’s most pressing issues, and includes the worldwide launch of a new product by Caterpillar.

NCEC’s conference program has been announced, featuring forward-thinking, innovative speakers from around the world.

These speakers are experts in their field and will deliver presentations on current and future projects and opportunities in civil construction– no other conference gives attendees the opportunity to actually increase their business and bottomline.

With the growing number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the sector, the conference will also give attendees information about how their equipment supply can meet demand.

Equipment company Caterpillar plan to launch new models that introduce technology and functionality never seen before in the industry. This will be the first showing of this product globally for Caterpillar and promises to deliver new and exciting changes to how these machines are operated.

The NCEC program includes insights into the future of civil construction and how technology such as drones, intelligent machines and autonomous vehicles are shaking up the sector. There will also be discussions about the industry’s most pressing topics: safety, best practice, workforce supply and skill shortages.

Already confirmed speakers include:

  • Phillip Charlton, CEO, Skills Oz
  • Adrian Hart, Construction, Associate Director Maintenance and Mining, BIS Oxford Economics
  • Chris Johnson, Digital Solutions Lead, GHD
  • Nick Smith, CEO, Airsight Australia
  • Dean Gaedtke, Executive General Manager Construction Equipment, Komatsu
  • Todd Connolly, General Manager – Construction Solutions, Komatsu
  • Deborah Keep, Trainer, Speaker and Coach, Deborahkeep.com
  • Plus many more still to be announced

This three-day multidisciplinary event is essential for anyone working in civil contracting (Tier 1, 2 and 3), demolition and earthmoving, local and state government, or quarrying, and gives attendees the chance to be the first to hear in-depth civil construction discussions and test new equipment in the outdoor demonstration pit.

Think Globally, Act Locally

Following the event’s theme, ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’, Adrian Hart will provide an outlook on the future of construction and mining activity so attendees can be best placed to prepare for upcoming challenges.

Phillip Charlton will delve deeper into an issue the sector is currently grappling with; workforce capability. With a huge number of civil infrastructure projects underway and planned across Australia, there are concerns around having a shortage of skilled and experienced workers that can deliver these projects and meet future demand.

Deborah Keep will take a different approach to the discussion around construction safety by looking at human-centred safety, which focuses on people rather than processes, and she will give a rundown of how this can be implemented in your organisation.

One of the biggest trends that the sector is talking about is the rapid development of new technologies, and the event will highlight this through a future technology panel and the exhibition, which will showcase and launch new civil construction equipment.

Nick Smith and Chris Johnson will join the technology panel and look at the operational applications of drones, autonomous vehicles and intelligent machines.

The exhibition will also feature the latest equipment from more than 100 exhibitors, including major brands such as Clark Equipment, Toyota Material Handling Australia, Hitachi, Komastu and Volvo/CJD, as well as a tech zone comprising Worksite of the Future, Jobs of the Future and Infrastructure of the Future.

Registrations are now officially open for the National Construction Equipment Convention (NCEC), running from 15-17 November at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. To register, visit ncecaustralia.com.au.
