Multinet Gas will begin a project to deliver natural gas to Warburton in 2015 as part of the Victorian Government’s Energy for the Regions program.

The Warburton extension project, valued at approximately $12million, will involve laying a supply main from Millgrove to Warburton along the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail and reticulating selected streets of Warburton. Construction works will begin in early 2015 and are due to conclude by mid-2016.

Chief Executive Officer, Hugh Gleeson said he was proud to be a part of the project.

“We were involved in the roll out of natural gas to nine towns in the Yarra Ranges in 2005. So far over 4,300 customers have connected to natural gas in the region.

“The penetration rate of natural gas has been great, with over 60% of households and businesses converting to natural gas and enjoying the benefits.

“The Warburton project is a chance to deliver those benefits to new communities.

“Down the track, we will be arranging a number of information sessions to the community of Warburton about the timing, benefits and incentives and how to arrange connection to natural gas.

“Natural gas is safe, reliable, convenient, economical and environmentally friendly. By connecting to natural gas, residents and businesses have the opportunity to select from a wider range of new appliances, such as heaters, hot water units and cook tops. Projects like this are about providing energy consumers with choice.”
