NBN appoints chief financial officer

NBN Co chief executive Bill Morrow has announced the appointment of Stephen Rue to the position of chief financial officer.

Prior to joining the company, Mr Rue spent 17 years in leadership roles at News Corp Australia including a decade as chief financial officer.

Mr Morrow said, “Stephen is a well-credentialed senior finance executive who has managed a business through a complex and high profile transformation. His transparent approach is welcome at a time NBN Co continues to accelerate on its delivery.

“Stephen is an enthusiastic and engaging executive and I look forward to working with him,” said Mr Morrow.

Mr Rue will report to the CEO as a member of the Executive Committee and will join the team on 1 July.

About Mr Rue:

Mr Rue is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies and a Diploma in Professional Accounting. His additional experience includes eight years at Arthur Andersen where he held the position of senior manager in the Audit and Business Advisory division. At News Corp he served as a director on a number of subsidiary and associated boards including Foxtel, Fox Sports, REA Group, Australian Associated Press and the Community Newspaper Group in Perth, where he served as chairman.
