Reports have surfaced that NBN Co. chief marketing officer, Kieren Cooney, has quit.

The Australian newspaper reported that the news of Mr Cooney’s departure was announced in an internal email sent from executive chairman Ziggy Switkowski to NBN Co staff.

Kieren Cooney, whose role included overseeing the government, corporate and public relations activities of the NBN Co, will be replaced by former Optus executive and current NBN product and sales boss, John Simon.

“Kieren has developed effective working relationships with all levels of government and all sides of politics. Most recently, he has overseen a smooth transition to the new Government,” Dr Switkowski said.

This comes as the latest of a number of staff upheavals, including the recent departure of construction executive general manager Richard Thorpe.
