Cameron Brae Group has chosen NBN Co to deliver full fibre to 2100 premises at the new Birling residential community development in the South-West Sydney Growth Precinct.

NBN Co said that when residents move into their brand-new home at Birling, they will have access to high-speed, reliable broadband delivered via premium-grade full fibre nbn infrastructure and a choice of around 120 internet retailers offering a range of plans over the nbn® network.

nbn will roll out more than 11km of new fibre throughout the community of Birling, enabling new residents to enjoy the fastest available residential speeds over the nbn network. This will enable multiple members of the same household to be streaming, gaming, e-learning, remote working through video conferencing and collaboration, as well as connecting with loved ones online – all at the same time.

nbn’s full fibre also caters to start-ups and side hustles, which can set up roots within the new community without having to commute into the Sydney, Penrith or Parramatta CBDs each day. nbn’s fibre technology is also expected to stimulate economic growth, especially inside the community’s shared recreational space at Birling Village, and support the creation of more jobs in the burgeoning growth corridor of south-west Sydney.

NBN Co said that the Birling residential community development will help to meet the strong customer demand and the New South Wales Government’s policy objective of creating more new homes in Sydney.

It’s envisioned the community development will also become home to many new employees of the nearby Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, with stage one scheduled for completion alongside the airport’s first operations taking flight.

In November 2022, nbn and WSA Co Limited signed a Master Developer Agreement for the Western Sydney Airport development that gives the airport access to nbn, Australia’s biggest wholesale broadband network.

NBN Co Executive General Manager New Developments, Andrew Walsh, said, “Full fibre is making the nbn network ‘future-ready’ and we firmly believe that the team at Cameron Brae has made the best possible decision that will benefit today’s new homeowners and future generations of residents at Birling.

“Supported by nbn Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), each household and business will get access to the highest residential speeds, innovative and reliable services that truly gives them the freedom to do great things. We can’t wait to see them use full fibre to its full potential.

“Last financial year, nbn rolled out more than 4000km of new fibre in new residential communities alone, helping to add 147,000 new homes and businesses to our network.

“Property developers are building the new Australia and nbn is actively proving why we are a natural partner to provide essential broadband infrastructure that benefits future residents for decades to come.”

Cameron Brae General Manager, Paul Gerlach, said that Birling Community is designed to be a place where residents can thrive, and having access to high-speed internet is a crucial part of that vision.

“We are excited to partner with nbn to bring full fibre into our development, ensuring that our residents have the best possible digital infrastructure to support their work, education, and entertainment needs,” Mr Gerlach said.

“The full fibre rollout is a testament to our commitment to providing top-tier amenities and infrastructure for our residents. This initiative will not only enhance the daily lives of our current residents but also make Birling an even more desirable destination for future homeowners.

“This is especially the case for people who take up a job at the Western Sydney International Airport, which has supercharged employment opportunities in the region. They will get to enjoy the increased prosperity and connectivity that our thriving community offers, both physically and digitally.”
