nbn has reached a new milestone with three million homes and businesses now able to connect to the network.

nbn Chief Network Engineering Officer Peter Ryan said, “This milestone is testament to the sheer volume and pace of work that our team and partners have achieved.

“We are making outstanding progress towards our goal: connecting eight million homes and businesses to enable access to fast broadband by 2020.

“Some of the areas we’ve been working in recently to get to this point are Campbelltown (NSW), Redcliffe (QLD) and Torquay (VIC).

“We know that access to fast broadband is helping transform communities, allowing people to access tele-health services, giving people the chance to connect and providing rural, regional and remote schools with the ability to access troves of information for classwork.”

Mr Ryan said one in four homes were now able to connect to the NBN and it is expected to become one in two homes by mid 2017.

“We are well on our way to connecting eight million homes and businesses by 2020,” Mr Ryan said.
