APA Group (APA) has appointed a new Group Executive Strategy and Commercial, commencing around 1 September 2020.

Julian Peck has been appointed to the role, and will provide the leadership and direction that will ensure APA has a portfolio of assets and growth opportunities aligned to its strategy.

As Group Executive Strategy and Commercial, Mr Peck will be responsible for delivering a single APA customer experience, all business development and commercial contracting activities, coordination of corporate strategy development, as well as undertaking corporate development and merger and acquisition activities.

Mr Peck has spent much of his career in investment banking, specialising in the infrastructure, utility and power sectors.

Mr Peck will join APA from Morgan Stanley, where he was co-head of its Australian investment banking business. Mr Peck is well-known to APA, having advised and supported APA through many significant transactions and capital raisings, including the original initial public offering (IPO) of APA in 2000.

APA Group CEO and Managing Director, Rob Wheals, said, “I’m pleased to announce Julian has been appointed APA’s Group Executive Strategy and Commercial.”

“Julian’s wealth of knowledge and experience makes him the ideal candidate to lead APA’s approach to identify and capture future growth opportunities, as we move into our third decade as a major Australian energy infrastructure business.”

APA is Australia’s largest natural gas infrastructure business, owning and/or operating around $21 billion of energy infrastructure assets. Its gas transmission pipelines span every state and territory on mainland Australia, delivering approximately half of the nation’s gas usage.
