City West Water has erected two new storage tanks, both 15 metres high and 50 metres in diameter, in the West Werribee area of Victoria.

City West Water Managing Director Anne Barker was joined by Andrew Elsbury, Member for Western Metropolitan Region, and Wyndham Mayor, Councillor Bob Fairclough, in officially opening the drinking and recycled water storage tanks.

The Ballan Road tanks site is a major part of a $100 million dollar investment in water infrastructure for the West Werribee region.

One tank will be used to supply drinking water to the fast growing areas in the West Werribee area, with the other set to supply high quality Class A recycled water through a dedicated ‘purple pipe’ system to almost 20,000 homes for toilet flushing and garden watering. Each tank holds enough water to fill 24 Olympic sized swimming pools.

The completion of the tank site is an important step forward for the supply of recycled water to residents of Manor Lakes, Bluestone and River Walk housing estates in 2015.
