Organisations enhancing the lives of remote and regional Western Australians are encouraged to apply for a Horizon Power Community Partnership, with applications now open for the latest round of the program.
On behalf of the Western Australian Government, the program provides $1.1 million each financial year to initiatives that build capacity and support vibrancy in remote and regional communities.
Community partnership funding ranges from $1000 to $10,000 for eligible organisations, with up to $50,000 available for multi-region initiatives or major events.
The Community Partnerships Program aims to support not-for-profit organisations, Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations, Prescribed Body Corporates and Local Governments, enhancing the lives of residents within Horizon Power’s service area, which includes the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid West, Esperance and Goldfields regions.
Horizon Power said its focus is on initiatives that have a strong community impact, ensuring that funds go toward programs that contribute to the overall wellbeing of the community. Typical recipients range from regional sporting associations and cultural and music events to arts and educational programs.
Since 2020, Western Australia’s regional energy provider, Horizon Power, has proudly awarded more than $5 million to more than 560 initiatives in the state’s regional areas.
Horizon Power Acting Chief Executive Officer, Krystal Skinner, said the program was focused on initiatives in the regions that have a strong community impact and are accessible to many.
“Here at Horizon Power, we are committed to supporting the unique needs of those living in regional and remote Western Australia. Our Community Partnerships Program represents the important connection we have to the local communities in which we work, live and play,” Ms Skinner said.
“I really encourage organisations that are making a difference in their community to apply. All applications are carefully considered, ensuring that every initiative or organisation we partner with has a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.”
In May 2025, $546,300 was awarded to 72 successful recipients across Western Australia, including the Spinifex Spree in Port Hedland, Winter Wonderland in Esperance, the Pilbara Community Men’s Shed and the Gascoyne Football Association.
“By investing in these programs, we hope to empower communities to lead innovative projects that bring social, environmental and economic benefits, bolstering resilience and vibrancy in their communities,” Mr Skinner said.
Applications for the latest round of partnerships close on 22 August 2025. Successful recipients will be announced in October 2025.
