Origin Energy has appointed Woodside Energy’s Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Lawrie Tremaine will take on the role of CFO, joining Origin’s Executive Leaders Team and reporting to CEO, Frank Calabria.

Mr Tremaine joined Woodside in 2006 from Alcoa where he held senior financial roles in Australia and across the Asia Pacific during a 17-year career.

Mr Calabria, said he was delighted to have Mr Tremaine join the company’s new Executive Leadership Team.

“Lawrie brings extensive finance and leadership experience in resources particularly oil and gas,” Mr Calabria said.

“Lawrie’s appointment is another important step forward in achieving our immediate goal of reducing debt and improving returns so that we can position Origin for growth in a rapidly changing energy market, while delivering on the potential of our investment in Australia Pacific LNG.”

Mr Tremaine has 30 years’ financial management expertise across treasury, taxation, strategy and planning, business development, commercial contracting and procurement. He also led Woodside’s Continuous Improvement and Productivity program, targeting long-term cultural change.

Mr Tremaine will begin his role at Origin following completion of his notice period at Woodside.
