Ozwater’26 wrapped up in Brisbane with a strong final day of discussion, collaboration and forward-looking conversations across the water sector.
Held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, the final day of Australia’s premier water conference focused on resilience, climate adaptation, circular water markets and community outcomes, while delegates made the most of one last day of networking and knowledge sharing.
One of the most anticipated moments of Day Three was the closing keynote from internationally renowned tunnelling expert Professor Arnold Dix, who reflected on resilience, teamwork and leadership under pressure. Drawing on his experience during the 2023 Silkyara-Barkot Tunnel rescue in India, Professor Dix explored how technical expertise and human-centred decision making can help navigate complex challenges.
The conference program also continued to spotlight some of the water sector’s biggest long-term challenges and opportunities. Sessions throughout the day explored climate-driven water quality risks, circular economy approaches and improving access to clean water and sanitation in remote First Nations communities.
A key focus of the final day was the Education Hub, where senior secondary students took part in immersive activities designed to showcase pathways into the water industry. Students participated in disaster simulations, workshops and STEM-focused sessions examining the connection between water, infrastructure, culture and community.
Across the exhibition floor, delegates continued conversations around digital transformation, operational resilience and sustainable infrastructure, with more than 200 exhibitors showcasing technologies and solutions for the future of water.
Ozwater’26 concluded with closing networking drinks, giving attendees one final opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, exhibitors and industry peers before the event officially wrapped up.
