Developers, consultants and contractors are now able to log in to a new South East Water portal integrating Google Maps to instantly and easily view pressure and flow information at no charge.
In what is a first end-to-end solution for the water industry, the new system provides immediate results for single tapping pressure and flow information.
“Currently consultants fill out an application form, pay a service charge and then engineers typically process the calculations within five days. This new method allows consultants to log in and access this information instantly – the pressure and flows are pre-calculated throughout the network and displayed through a google maps interface,” said General Manager of Infrastructure Rex Dusting.
Pressure and flow information statements are a common service provided by water retailers for developers, consultants and contractors, used in the design of fire services for new and existing developments.
“This system is a first of its kind for the industry connecting leading edge technology with customers’ needs. The portal will reduce service costs, provide 24 hour access to pressure and flow information and allow customers to save the information as a pdf for their convenience,” said Mr Dusting.
Typically hydraulic consultants must ensure sprinklers and hydrants are readily functional particularly during high demand days when pressure is low. Consultants and developers require this information both for the design and provision to fire authorities for fire service compliance.
