The Australian Corrosion Association (ACA) and the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) are co-hosting a technical seminar in Perth focusing on pipeline corrosion management.

The seminar, to be held 13 September 2016 at Parmelia Hilton Perth, will bring together industry experts to discuss the challenges and solutions to prevent corrosion in pipelines.

The seminar presentations will be aimed at all industry sectors involved with pipeline asset management, including asset owners, project and integrity engineers, operators, inspection and maintenance personnel, contractors and suppliers.

The event will discuss technologies including materials selection and coatings, and cathodic protection used to attain the desired design life of assets.

Corrosion can cause dangerous and expensive damage to many types of structures including pipelines, bridges, buildings, water and wastewater systems.

One of the most recent estimates indicates that corrosion costs the Australian economy between three and five per cent of GDP each year.

The ACA also holds a number of training courses throughout the year to inform and guide organisations about ways to combat corrosion.

As a strategic partner of NACE International, a global corrosion authority, the ACA also offers various NACE training options in the Australasian region.

The NACE Pipeline Corrosion Integrity Management (PCIM) course will be held on 3-7 October 2016 in Perth and 10-14 October 2016 in Brisbane.

This course serves as the key training track for the PCIM professional that is expected to focus on the implementation and management of an integrity program for a pipeline system.

Held over five days, the course will provide comprehensive up-to-date coverage of the various aspects of time-dependent deterioration threats to liquid and gas pipeline systems.
