An Australian utility has won an innovation award at the Bentley Systems Be Inspired Awards 2015.
SA Water won the “Innovation in Asset Performance Management” award for their work on the Adelaide Metro Water Distribution Network, also known as the North South Interconnection System Project (NSISP).
The project aimed to improve water security for Adelaide by linking the city’s separate northern and southern water zones through a series of new transfer pipelines, new pump stations, and a range of other enhancements to the existing water network.
In the 2013/2014 financial year, the solution helped save $3million in electricity costs alone. A comparative reduction of more than $400,000 also occurred over the last six months in network operations expenditure from optimized pumping and treatment plant operations.
Additional savings are expected as more refined input costing data becomes available and the organization responds to new information about the cost impact of operational decisions.
The Be Inspired Awards are a global program recognising the world’s most outstanding infrastructure projects across design, engineering, construction, and operations.
The finalists presented their projects at The Year in Infrastructure 2015 Conference where the winners were announced.
The conference also included a series of keynotes by Bentley senior management, guest industry speakers and interactive workshops.
