The utility is seeking an Engineering Services Provider for the next tranche of dam upgrades across South East Queensland.
Seqwater has invited industry to a market briefing on 10 May 2024 at its Brisbane head office, as planning continues for its Dam Improvement Program.
Several dams across the region are being upgraded as part of Seqwater’s Dam Improvement Program to ensure they continue to operate safely during extreme weather events in line with modern engineering and dam safety standards.
Detailed on QTenders, the initiative seeks a highly proficient industry partner to drive a comprehensive range of engineering activities from the initial planning and design stages, through to construction completion to support in the delivery of the program by 2035.
Seqwater has delivered 13 dam upgrades, including Leslie Harrison Dam at Capalaba, Sideling Creek Dam (Lake Kurwongbah) north of Brisbane and Ewen Maddock Dam on the Sunshine Coast, since 2008. The Lake Macdonald Dam Improvement Project is also underway.
The Engineering Services Provider will support the next suite of upgrades, which includes South East Queensland’s three major gated dams, Wivenhoe, Somerset and North Pine, with additional dams to be potentially added in the future.
Seqwater expects to undergo a multi-stage procurement process from June to December 2024 as part of the procurement, following the market briefing to provide essential details about the opportunity.
Seqwater may expedite the procurement phases to initiate the project ahead of schedule.
This procurement will seek to progress the strategic objectives set out in the Queensland Procurement Strategy 2023 and will be undertaken in line with the Queensland Procurement Policy 2023.
As the Queensland Government’s bulk water provider for South East Queensland, Seqwater places a high importance on engaging and supporting Queensland businesses through its procurement activities when practical.
In 2022-23, Seqwater spent $247.5 million on Queensland businesses, supporting 796 firms.
